Telcordia® SS7 Signaling Analysis

Signaling System 7 (SS7) is critical to both existing and emerging telecommunications networks, whether they are circuit-switched or packet-based. Network interconnections, voice-data convergence, interoperability, service and feature delivery, and compliance with regulatory mandates all depend on SS7. SS7 also plays a key role for interconnecting wireline and wireless networks. In addition, SS7 over Internet Protocol (IP) is gaining more and more support in the telecommunications industry.

Because SS7 is vital to the operation of today's and tomorrow's networks, telecommunications suppliers need to be able to demonstrate that their products and service platforms conform to the specifications, standards, and generic requirements applicable to the network environments where their products will be deployed. Suppliers must also be able to demonstrate to their service provider customers that their equipment can interwork properly with other elements in each service provider's network, and meet interconnection requirements with other telecommunications networks.

Telcordia Technologies offers a wide range of services to assist telecommunications suppliers with SS7 product testing and verification. Telcordia is uniquely qualified to meet telecommunications suppliers' needs because of our comprehensive understanding of SS7 requirements, industry standards, and network implementations. Telcordia has developed generic requirements for the SS7 protocol as well as SS7-based network elements, and we have participated in related industry standards forums. Telcordia has developed a strong understanding of SS7 networks by providing consulting and development support services to service providers. Telcordia is also recognized for our objective, supplier-neutral perspective, and we have derived an extensive knowledge of switching and signaling from over 15 years of technical analysis and hands-on testing. Telcordia develops and uses unique, flexible, proprietary test tools/applications and a rich repository of test plans/cases to conduct our SS7-based protocol testing and analysis.
