OSMINE Services

These important services are credited by network equipment makers throughout the industry for helping to land successful sales in the RBOC marketplace.

OSMINE - Operations Systems Modifications for the Integration of Network Elements - is a process through which suppliers contract with Telcordia to modify Telcordia OSSs, so that suppliers' products will operate in an RBOC infrastructure.

As the industry-recognized method for attaining compatibility with Telcordia software, OSMINE Services maximize the value of your network products. You are fully prepared to promote your products to all service providers who mandate their network equipment to be OSMINE Ready. Once you complete the OSMINE Services process, your products are intended to:

  • Meet the flowthrough requirements specified by service providers
  • Integrate with embedded OSSs when the product is deployed
  • Have greater marketability and salability

OSMINE Services: Program and Services

  • OSS customization which addresses NE specific functionality vs. functionality
    • which may be applicable to multiple NEs across different NEP ("generic") functionality
  • Funded by an individual NEP
  • Can occur by itself or subsequent to GFDS work
  • Needed in addition to GFDS to deliver the full benefits of the GFDS functionality

GFDS (Generic Feature Development Services): Program and Services

  • OSS customization which provides functionality generically applicable to multiple NEs across different NEPs (i.e., DWDM, OC-192)
  • Co-funded by multiple NEPs
  • In most cases is followed by OSMINE Services customization for each NEP
  • Original Funding Group

GFDS: Process and Funding

  • Generic Feature Development Services (GFDS) uses an Original Funding Group (OFG).

An Original Funding Group (OFG) provides the funding for the development of a generic Feature Development Services feature. The OFG member price is equal to the total price of the feature divided by the number of funders in the OFG.

  • An OFG may consist of one or more Network Element Providers
  • A prospective Service Provider may join an OFG
  • Telcordia Technologies may join an OFG
