GR-303 and Call Agent (Soft Switch) Dial Tone Solutions
A high-level example of a call agent (soft switch) based packet voice network with elements of GR-303 access technology is illustrated below. Telcordia offers technical analysis and consulting services addressing most aspects this architecture, including voice, data, and signaling interfaces.
GR-303 analysis services in the "soft switch" environment are focused on the the GR-303 IDT function contained in the Access Gateway network element pictured above. Service types 1, 2, and 3 described above for the Class 5 TDM Switch Dial Tone environment (i.e.,Consulting, Informal Testing, GR-303 Unit Testing) are available for Access Gateway products. For testing services, the role of the GR-303 RDT is assumed by the Telcordia GR-303 Testbed, or by embedded RDT network elements.
In addition to GR-303 Generic Interface related testing, Telcordia provides testing and consulting services on all narrowband telephony interfaces on Access Gateway and Residential Gateway (e.g., Integrated Access Devices (IADs), and Multimedia Terminal Adapters (MTAs)) devices. Testing is typically performed to the specifications in Telcordia generic requirements GR-506, GR-57, GR-909 ,GR-303, as well as ANSI Standards T1.401, T1.407 and T1.409.
Whether your product is an Access Gateway, Integrated Access Device (IAD), Multimedia Terminal Adapters (MTA), or business gateway, we can help you to demonstrate conformance to these specifications. We can test loop-start and ground-start interfaces (both "FXS" and "FXO"), as well as E&M interfaces. We can test for generation or detection of all call progress tones (e.g., Dial tone) and DTMF address signals, was well as assess voice quality performance of your product.
Next-generation packet network architectures hold tremendous promise, but (at least in the residential market) "you still have to ring the phone". Telcordia can help insure that your packet voice product maximizes its compatibility with embedded telephony station equipment.
