Part Number 803111 - ATM Conformance Tests for End Systems

The Telcordia® ATM Conformance Test Suite for End Systems Test Suite provides a fully automated conformance testing of end system equipment, such as ATM switches, that implement ATM Forum User to Network Interface (UNI) 3.1 signaling requirement. The test suite consists of the following conformance test groups:

  • General - these test cases verify the Implementation Under Test (IUT) IUT's functionality for encoding all General Flow Control (GFC) bits properly in a Virtual Path Connection (VPC) and Virtual Channel Connection (VCC) according to the structure and field encoding convention.
  • Cell Rate Decoupling - this test case verify the IUT's functionality for generating and adding unassigned cell to the assigned cell stream to be transmitted, transforming a non-continuous cell stream of assigned cells to a continuous stream of assigned and unassigned cells when IUT has a physical layer.
  • Cell Discrimination - these test group covers the IUT's capability to identify and encode the received OAM (Operation, Administration, and Management) cells under the situation of supporting or not supporting VP/VC level management. These specifications are covered under the following sub-groups:
    • VCI - these test cases verify the IUT's functionality for coding or discarding the F4 flow Segment or End-To-End OAM cells with proper Virtual Channel Identifier (VCI) for a given VP.
    • PTI - these test cases verify the IUT's functionality for coding or discarding the F5 flow Segment or End-To-End Loopback OAM cells with proper PTI (Payload Type Identifier) code.
  • M Plane - these test group covers the IUT's capability to transparently pass through, carry, and handle OAM cells and deal with Fault management. These specifications are covered under the following sub-groups:
    • Information Flows - these test cases verify the IUT's functionality for processing or discarding the F4 flow Segment or End-To-End OAM cells if the IUT supports the VC service only.
    • OAM Cell Format - these test cases verify the IUT's functionally for discarding the F4/F5 flow Segment or End-To-End OAM cells with invalid cell, function, CRC-10 type field, also verify the IUT's functionality for setting the reserve bits of F4/F5 Segment or End-To-End OAM loop back indication field to a proper value, or discarding the F4/F5 Segment or End-To-End OAM loop back cells with an improper value in the reserve bits.
    • Fault Management - these test group covers the IUT's functionality for dealing with the fault situation and verifying the connectivity. These specifications are covered under the following sub-groups:
      • Alarm Surveillance - these test cases verify the IUT's functionality for sending a VP/VC Remote Defect Indication (RDI) on the reception of a VP/VC Alarm Indication Signal (AIS).
      • Connectivity Verification - these test group covers the IUT's functionality for connection verification by the use of the OAM loop back capability for both VP/VC connections.
    • End-To-End Loopback - these test cases verify the IUT's functionality for using End-To-End loop back cells.
    • UNI loop back - these test cases verify the IUT's functionality for using UNI loop back.

The Telcordia® ATM Conformance Test Suite for Intermediate Systems Test Suite provides a fully automated conformance testing of intermediate system equipment, such as ATM switches, that implement ATM Forum User to Network Interface (UNI) 3.1 signaling requirement. The test suite consists of the following conformance test groups:

  • General - these test cases verify the Implementation Under Test (IUT) IUT's functionality for ATM layer services, ATM cell structure, and encoding at the UNI.
  • Cell Rate Decoupling - this test case verify the IUT's functionality for extracting and discarding unassigned cells from the cell flow originating from the physical layer.
  • Cell Discrimination - these test group covers the IUT's capability to discriminate cells based on predefined header and payload type identifier field values. These specifications are covered under the following sub-groups:
    • VCI - these test cases verify the IUT's functionality for coding or discarding the F4 flow Segment or End-To-End OAM (Operation, Administration, and Management) cells with proper VCI for a given VP under different situations when IUT acts as intermediate system.
    • PTI - these test cases verify the IUT's functionality for coding or discarding the F5 flow Segment or End-To-End Loopback OAM cells with proper PTI code under different situations when IUT acts as intermediate systems.
  • M Plane - these test group covers the IUT's capability to transparently pass through, carry, and handle OAM cells and deal with Fault management. These specifications are covered under the following sub-groups:
    • Information Flows - these test cases verify the IUT's functionality for transparently passing through or carrying OAM cells.
    • OAM Cell Format - these test cases verify the IUT's functionally for handling OAM cells.
    • Fault Management - these test group covers the IUT's functionality for dealing with the fault situation and verifying the connectivity when IUT acts as intermediate system. These specifications are covered under the following sub-groups:
      • Alarm Surveillance - these test cases verify the IUT's functionality for detection, generation, and propagation of Virtual Path Connection (VPC) or Virtual Channel Connection (VCC) failures.
      • Connectivity Verification - these test group covers the IUT's functionality for connection verification by the use of the OAM loop back capability for both VP/VC connections when IUT acts as intermediate system.
    • End-To-End Loopback - these test cases verify the IUT's functionality for End-To-End loop back cells.
    • UNI loop back - these test cases verify the IUT's functionality for segment loop back cells.

The Telcordia® ATM Conformance Test Suite for Intermediate Systems Test Suite provides a fully automated conformance testing of interoperability of intermediate system equipment, such as ATM switches, that implement ATM Forum User to Network Interface (UNI) 3.1 signaling requirement. The test suite consists of the following conformance test groups:

  • General - these test cases verify the two intermediate Implementation Under Tests (IUTs) IUT's functionality for relaying ATM layer services and supporting point-to-pint, or point -to-multipoint VP/VC connection at the UNI.
  • Cell Rate Decoupling - this test case verify the two intermediate IUT's functionality for extracting and discarding unassigned cells from the cell flow originating from the physical layer.
  • Cell Discrimination - these test group covers the two intermediate IUT's capability to pass user data and unmodified cells with unspecified and reserved values for the PT (Payload Type) field if the IUTs are not terminating a Virtual Path (VP)/Virtual Channel (VC).
    • PTI - these test cases verify the two intermediate IUT's functionality for passing user data cells on a VPC/VCC.
  • M Plane - these test group covers the two intermediate IUT's capability to transparently pass through, carry, and handle OAM (Operation, Administration, and Management) cells and deal with Fault management. These specifications are covered under the following sub-groups:
    • Information Flows - these test cases verify the two intermediate IUT's functionality for transparently passing through or carrying Alarm Indication Signal (AIS)/ Remote Defect Indication (RDI) F5 OAM cells.
    • OAM Cell Format - these test cases verify the two intermediate IUT's functionally for handling OAM cells.
    • Fault Management - these test group covers the two intermediate IUT's functionality for dealing with the fault situation and verifying the connectivity. These specifications are covered under the following sub-groups:
