Renovation Risk Reduction Services
Your Business Challenge
Telecommunications carriers repeatedly have experienced impacts to network equipment as the result of renovation activity within or adjacent to their facilities. The typical project involves a facility which experiences contamination threats from interior or exterior renovations where risks include excess vibration, reduced temperature and humidity control, physical damage, water intrusion, or particulate contamination. Should network hardware become impacted, it may require expensive cleaning, repair, or even replacement. In addition to warranting expensive remediation, these risks may also pose a threat to operations, resulting in network service impacts, including possible loss of services and long-term reliability issues.
We have your solution
Telcordia Disaster Prevention and Recovery experience indicates that project planning and facility monitoring can mitigate most risks associated with construction, demolition, or renovation projects. Ongoing exposures to many risks can be monitored via instrumentation. Computerized remote monitoring of instruments allows for 24 x 7 surveillance of a variety of conditions. Excursions of parameters from preset limits trip automatic real-time notifications of Telcordia project managers, key client personnel, and/or contractor’s field supervision, who can then manage the risk to prevent or reduce network impacts. The occurrence of "excursions" can be logged, as can the occurrence and acknowledgement of alarm notifications.
Instruments and sensors that can be operated and monitored in the client’s facility include particle counters, temperature sensors, relative humidity sensors, water detectors, accelerometers, pressure transducers, chemical detectors, or other input devices. All of the data monitored over the history of a project can be logged to provide a record of site conditions. Reporting options are flexible and tailored to client needs on each project.
Benefits
We offer value-added services including pre-project assessment of network risk, evaluation of the potential effects of the proposed construction activities on network equipment, installation and operation of monitoring systems to warn of threats to network integrity, and post-project assessments to verify lack of impacts to the network.
These services, tailored to customer needs on each project, will provide a level of control over construction environments previously not available and can assist where staffing limitations prelude on-site monitoring of contractors. This control will serve to prevent service, capital, and labor losses frequently sustained when construction activities impact telecom environments.
