Product Catalog

A centralized repository for storing and publishing the business view of the product, to be used by CRM and self-service portals or order entry systems in creating product listings. The associated product component catalog stores the technical product definitions, including supplier components, to specify how products map across the BSS/OSS.

The Product Catalog is the command center for creation of TMF SID-based product and service models. This model-driven solution aims to streamline the ordering of complex communications products. The Catalog uses a component-based object model and seamlessly integrates supply chain partner offers.

The Catalog's product and service specifications are used to construct many commercial product offerings. The Catalog provides a business rules engine for defining policies at both a global level and at each component level within the model. Business rules are employed by the system in the product selection recommendation engine. A customer service representative or web portal uses the product selection engine to search and find complex service solutions for customers.

The Catalog's components are the building blocks used to define a product/service and resource specifications and offerings. These components are stored for the product manager to re-use to allow for quick time-to-market for new product offerings.
