Design Assistant

Now you can define the rules for building your network and incorporate simple wizards for more efficient network planning and design.

Design Assistant helps administrators and planners minimize time and ultimately the costs associated with planning and designing networks by allowing:

• Business policies to be put in place that can cut cost and save on network maintenance
• All planners to use the lead planners' experience and knowledge
• Certain hardware to be identified for use in all plans. (i.e. least cost, higher reliability, equipment availability)
• Trends to be followed and non-standard planning practices to be corrected with Design Assistant's log-tracking capability
• Plans to be developed in place in a fraction of the time of manual entry

Design Assistant provides flexible, accurate results, and is easy to adapt to changing business policy. Its configuration tools allow you to apply your corporate policy rule-sets to provide optimized network layout.

Using the Design Assistant wizard, a company's lead designer will define the steps for entering a new build-out including:

• Defining demand per house
• What the acceptable loss will be
• How many houses will be served from each customer serving point
• Selections to minimize road crossings
• Connectivity rules and generate an optimized network path
• Priority of selection of equipment types for the plan and selection criteria

Design Assistant helps enforce your corporate policy. It provides the tools for administrators to set up wizards that define steps the planner should take to create the new network as well as which policy should be applied. This ensures that your planners are more consistent with how networks are designed.

Using the wizards:

• Planners define the existing network connection point and the customer demand locations by way of the wizard
• Planners define "possible routes" that may be used in creation of the network as well as street crossing locations
• Planners follow the steps of the wizard as they built out the new network design with the ability to modify the network and allow the rules based application to optimally design the network with minimal effort by the end users
