Telcordia Pilots Industry OSS/BSS Transformation Project

Telcordia to Lead Management World 2008 Catalyst Program;
Project Aims to Reduce Systems Integration Costs by as Much as 35%

PISCATAWAY, NJ - May 6, 2008 - In a move that recognizes Telcordia's industry leadership, Management World 2008 has chosen Telcordia, a global leader in the development of IP, wireline, and mobile telecommunications software and services, to participate in its Catalyst Program, an Operational and Business Support Systems (OSS/BSS) proving ground where Communication Service Providers (CSPs), systems integrators, and hardware/software vendors collaborate to solve common, critical industry challenges. The project – "Delivering an Industry Information Infrastructure" – centers around live demonstrations and is designed to help the telecom industry ensure ease of integration in multi-vendor OSS/BSS environments.

"As CSPs worldwide seek to transform their businesses, there is an increased focus on OSS/BSS improving time to market for innovative new services that create new revenue and market-differentiation opportunities," said Dennis Tinley, President, Operations and Transformation Solutions, Telcordia. "Being chosen to lead the Catalyst Program project continues Telcordia's long history of helping CSPs transform their OSS/BSS from a rigid platform to a flexible and nimble system that facilitates seamless communications to drive operational efficiencies and profit."

Sponsored by Telecom Italia, the Telcordia team is led by Allen Seidman, Vice President, Business Development and Product Marketing, Telcordia. The Catalyst project includes significant contributions by Cisco, SAP and SITA CORP and will use commercial software products including ERP, Master Data Management, OSS inventory and Network Resource Management products. The integration of systems and the network, which will be based on one information solution, will use a commercial industry information services model based on globally hosted registries, with content provided from global equipment vendors and leveraged by CSPs around the world.

The project will focus on equipment-related information and will provide demonstrable examples of how ERP applications can be integrated with traditional OSS, network elements and Network Resource Management software through the use of commercial Master Data Management technology, middleware and a globally managed industry information infrastructure based on one, clear, meaningful and consistently applied language.

Telcordia's OSS/BSS solutions include Telcordia® Common Language® Information Services, a suite of products designed to help CSPs lower data administration costs by up to 90 percent, significantly reduce systems integration and ease communications across what were historically poorly integrated systems and organizations. Common Language is recognized as the industry's preferred choice, with information contributed by more than 1000 equipment vendors and leveraged by nearly 100 service providers on four continents.

Telcordia's OSS/BSS portfolio also includes the Telcordia Fulfillment Suite, the most flexible, proven provisioning and order management solution in the market. The Telcordia Fulfillment Suite includes Telcordia® Granite Inventory for provisioning, discovery and activation, and Telcordia® Expediter for order management. The Telcordia Fulfillment Suite, provides CSPs with an enterprise-wide view of their services, application-specific resources and network, along with a comprehensive set of provisioning capabilities.
