Standards Awards Spotlight Telcordia's Industry Leadership

Two Telcordia Employees Honored for Contributions to Telecom Standards

PISCATAWAY, NJ - June 19, 2007 - Telcordia Technologies (www.telcordia.com) has spent more than two decades setting the standards for telecom: both the technical standards themselves and the standard by which industry leadership is measured. The latest recognition of that work comes from the Alliance for Telecommunications Solutions (ATIS), which has honored two Telcordia employees - Paul Levine, Consultant, COMMON LANGUAGE® Information Services Standards Development, Telcordia, and Viqar Shaikh, Senior Systems Engineer, Advanced Technology Solutions, for their leadership in organizations that have developed key telecom standards such as Coding and Common Language Data Representation.

At the 2007 ATIS Annual Meeting of Committees Awards and Recognition Luncheon, Levine was presented with the 2007 ATIS Distinguished Service Award. This award recognizes Levine's nearly 20 years of technical contributions and leadership in ATIS, where he was instrumental in the development and success of the Coding through the use of Common Language Data Representation and syntax standards created at ATIS and implemented within the Common Language Information Services. The award also honors Levine for his work on related standards established by the ITU-T and UNIFACT, as well as OASIS (ebXML) standards, critical to helping ensure industry interoperability for the more than 100 Telcordia Common Language service provider subscribers and 1,000 participating equipment suppliers worldwide.

Shaikh was presented with a 2007 Award for Outstanding Contributions to an ATIS Committee. This award honors individuals who have made valuable contributions to the completion of ATIS standards and demonstrated significant efforts to support acceptance and use of ATIS standards throughout the industry. Shaikh was recognized for his key contributions to the Packet Technologies and Systems Committee as they pertain to ATIS Next-Generation Network (NGN) standardization work, and for his support and contributions within the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) -- Telecommunication Standardization Sector's Global Standards Initiative.

"These awards recognize the dedication, team-building efforts and strategic intelligence of our committee leaders and participants," said Susan M. Miller, president and CEO, ATIS. "Their work helps deliver the open standards and end-to-end solutions that form the basis for timely new communications network products and services."

"Telcordia helps service providers worldwide and key U.S. government customers succeed by giving them the opportunity to leverage our focus on innovation, experience and reach," said Maneck Master, Vice President, Advanced Technology Solutions, Telcordia. "Paul and Viqar embody this focus by playing key roles in developing standards that address service providers' real-world needs while facilitating industry interoperability worldwide. These awards are the latest examples of how the industry recognizes Telcordia's unmatched leadership and experience in the telecom space."

Levine and Shaikh are the two latest examples of Telcordia's leadership in developing and commercializing major telecom technologies. This leadership is part of Telcordia's Elements of Success strategy, which centers around innovation, experience and reach, and enables service providers to leverage Telcordia's decades of industry experience to reduce their risk and time-to-market when deploying new technologies. It also helps ensure that customers benefit from Telcordia's reach in the marketplace, which includes an unsurpassed breadth of functional offerings and a global selection of implementation specialists and strategic partners to help bridge resource gaps and deliver results.
