Press Release:
Telcordia's Enhanced Fulfillment Suite Speeds Services to Market
Market leader in Fulfillment leads the way with proven, deployed solution
Piscataway, NJ - March 27, 2006 - With a firm handle on changing industry dynamics and in anticipation of changing operator needs, Telcordia (www.telcordia.com) has enhanced its Fulfillment Suite, which includes the newest releases of Telcordia® Granite Inventory and Telcordia® Expediter. Available today and already deployed at Tier 1 operators, the enhanced offering gives wireline, cable and wireless operators a flexible end-to-end solution for designing and provisioning new services - including those based on IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS).
"As networks converge and communications change there continues to be pressure to optimize the service fulfillment process," said Larry Goldman, founder and senior analyst of OSS Observer. "Companies like Telcordia that address these changes and offer flexible and robust solutions are best positioned to help operators manage the complex network issues as they roll-out advanced services that drive revenue."
"The new communications landscape requires faster and more flexible fulfillment processes to support a rich set of product and service offerings. Telcordia has invested significantly in creating a new Fulfillment Suite and in enhancing Granite Inventory to support a service-centric model that will enable operators to simultaneously grow revenues and lower costs by changing the fundamentals of service design and fulfillment," said Mike Henderson, President, Global Solutions, Telcordia. "This is just the latest example of how Telcordia continues to leapfrog the competition and lead the way by bringing innovative new approaches to market and helping operators thrive in today's changing communications market."
The Telcordia Fulfillment Suite includes the newest releases of Telcordia Granite Inventory, for provisioning, discovery and activation, and Telcordia Expediter, for order management. With this enhanced suite, operators can easily build complex service bundles and now have the tools necessary for end-to-end service design, resource management and lifecycle management. It simplifies the fulfillment process because operators can make a single change in service definition and flow that is then automatically funneled down to other support systems, instead of having to make multiple changes at each point in the process. This helps operators speed new services to market, better manage sophisticated services and seamlessly integrate existing systems, which results in increased network efficiencies and lower total cost of ownership.
Granite Inventory includes intelligent inventory, provisioning automation, and data synchronization functions in a single, open, flexible service fulfillment solution. By coupling an enterprise-wide view of services, application-specific resources, and the network with a comprehensive set of provisioning capabilities, the suite puts operators firmly in control of their growth. With it, operators can efficiently manage the rollout of new transaction-oriented services; develop network configurations for complex equipment and circuit layout records, using standard templates for the assignment of resources; and gain faster, more accurate provisioning and repair with integrated activation.
Granite Inventory has more than 50 customer deployments and is deployed in Tier 1, wireline, wireless and cable operators worldwide. According to recent report by analyst firm OSS Observer titled Market Share: Global OSS Supplier Market Leadership in 19 Segments, "Telcordia is a leader in every service fulfillment segment," ranking number one in Inventory, Order Management and Fulfillment. In addition, a recent report from industry analyst firm Dittberner Associates titled Provisioning, Network Inventory, and Service Management Solutions also reports that "Telcordia Technologies has the broadest and deepest capabilities in provisioning and network inventory functions for wireline operators."
Since acquiring Granite Systems, Inc., Telcordia has fully integrated the company's solutions into its next-generation OSS product line and has created an innovative and comprehensive fulfillment solution in anticipation of operators' evolving requirements and the changing communications landscape. In line with the Telcordia® Elementive business approach and in support of the Telcordia Maestro IMS Portfolio, Telcordia Granite Inventory is an open OSS product that easily and seamlessly works in a multi-vendor environment and also gives operators a unique way to leverage their legacy investments. The first to support Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE) standards, Telcordia Granite Inventory gives operators and their business partners the ability to easily configure the software to support the new applications and services that it enables.
Product Enhancements
The latest release of Granite Inventory makes it even easier to track every aspect of a service - including details about the network resources it requires and how customers use it - because of the introduction of the native service object. This approach simplifies the creation and management of services such as IPTV, MMS and interactive gaming so operators can quickly launch them with the confidence that they'll work flawlessly right from the start.
The latest release of Granite Inventory reflects investments made in four areas:
- User experience - major change to GUI development approach using Java Server Faces, improvements in visualization of information supporting visual navigation, and subscriber self-service
- New applications - native discovery, reconciliation and activation functions plus roll-out of Express Packs for IP service creation
- Services and resources - native capability to evolve IP solutions supporting the definition, design and creation of advanced service concepts
- Architecture - Transparent User Defined Classes (UDC) and Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) toolkit for cost effective integration with embedded systems.
Telcordia Expediter is a highly flexible, configurable order management and lifecycle management component of our Fulfillment Suite built specifically for telecom operators. It guides service orders from start to finish, handling order decomposition, routing, status tracking, business rule validation, message mapping, provisioning/activation, and billing. With the new Product Catalog Manager module, operators can create, modify, and abandon service concepts as the needs of their customers evolve. Expediter's embedded graphical design tool enables users to rapidly build business logic, workflow, and system interfaces with minimal scripting. At the same time, pre-defined templates and interfaces - designed specifically for the telecom industry - can be used as quick, inexpensive starting points for efficiently introducing new services. Its open design enables integration both with existing environments - without recoding and data duplication - and with other OSSs to complete service fulfillment across multiple services.
