PISCATAWAY, N.J.- April 20, 2005 - Telcordia, a global provider of telecommunications software and services, continues to work with service providers around the world to successfully transform their network operations and maximize their emerging market opportunities. Leading carriers trust Telcordia as their constant compass in a changing industry where networks, technologies and services are converging and business models must be transformed to ensure long-term profitability.

"Today, carriers know they must evolve but the task of transforming network operations can be daunting," said Matthew J. Desch, Chief Executive Officer of Telcordia. "The imperative to change is clear but the correct approach is less so. Determining the best strategy and executing it at the right pace is the intrinsic value that Telcordia brings to our customers worldwide."

"Using a powerful combination of expertise, business acumen and technical prowess, Telcordia provides the insight and strategic direction that helps customers improve their network operations," Desch added. "We're committed to working with service providers around the world and continue to deliver on our Elementive strategy, which offers an open, configurable and flexible approach to help achieve their objectives. Telcordia has an intimate understanding of the challenges of transformation within the industry and is uniquely qualified to address these challenges with our customers."

Proven Leadership Worldwide
A key accomplishment in the last 12 months is the successful integration of the former Granite Systems, Inc. The acquisition of Granite has rapidly advanced Telcordia's penetration of new markets for next generation network services and resulted in new customers, including AXTEL, Mexico's largest CLEC; China Mobile, the world's largest mobile operator; Telecom Italia, Telefonica Brazil and Telecom Malaysia. Telcordia has secured its position as the undisputed market leader in next-generation inventory management and has expanded its partner base, strengthened its global presence and the past six months, signed 14 new customers around the globe.

Telcordia is consolidating on its new position as an independent company by strengthening customer and partner relationships, broadening its product and service portfolio, and expanding its global presence.

Telcordia is actively expanding its presence in key international regions including Europe, Caribbean and Latin America (CALA) and Asia-Pacific. Building on its experiences and relationships in the CALA region, Telcordia recently established a Brazilian-based entity with offices in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, and has positioned itself for continued growth in that region, where the telecommunications market is expected to grow 40 percent by 2008.

The company continues to work closely with many of the largest carriers and government organizations in Europe, including the National Telecommunications and Post Commission of Greece (also known as EETT), Telecom Italia, Saudi Telecom, and British Telecom. In Asia-Pacific, Telcordia recently teamed with Taiwan's Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) to open an Applied Research Center (TARC-TW) focused on developing a next-generation Open Network Service Platform (ONSP).

Expanded Reach, Expanded Offerings
Telcordia is aligning itself with new strategic channel and technology partners, extending its reach into 80 countries, and driving the telecommunications revolution. For example, through its recently announced relationship with Apertio, Telcordia is positioned to drive the wireless industry's move to open, standards-based IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) networks, which will enable operators to roll out new service offerings without overhauling existing network infrastructure and to scale to optimally support new subscribers.

Carriers worldwide are transforming their businesses to adapt to a changing industry and business climate. Many of them are striving to differentiate themselves from their competitors, explore new ways to do business, win new customers and retain their existing base. Telcordia helps carriers transform their businesses by developing innovative solutions, such as the recently launched Hosted Solutions initiative. This initiative, and Telcordia's Hosted Solutions offering for Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs) in North America, brings new wireless players into the market, while allowing existing ones to leverage their assets in new ways in order to secure new revenue streams.

"Telcordia is expanding its business horizons as a newly independent organization that has the innovation, agility and knowledge base to offer guidance to carriers as they navigate this wave of the industry's transformation," said Desch. "There's never been a better time for carriers to take stock, examine how this process can benefit their business, and then return to the market with increased vigor. Telcordia is well-positioned to continue to help carriers through this transition and ensure that carriers successfully manage, evolve and grow their business."
