White Paper:
It takes the right operations plan to unlock the profitability of mass-market IP-based multiplay services

Every service provider (incumbent facilities-based operator, cable operator, and mass-market reseller) should be planning for residential IP multiplay services. "Planning" means taking the time to develop an operations blueprint that recognizes two realities: Competitive survival is increasingly tied to IP, and, in the IP space, the criteria for service fulfillment and service assurance become fluid and often unpredictable.

This white paper explains that the two goals of dependable service assurance and rapid, error free fulfillment (through either customer service representatives or self-service portals) require 24/7 attention, given the dynamic nature of multiplay services, the "mosaic" of embedded access technologies, and the unexpected ways that customers use these services.

We also argue that it is possible to plan and implement an operations infrastructure to handle the special requirements of these services. The key is having the right mix of systems with the capabilities to support holistic views of multiplay service flows and proactive response to shifting network conditions.
