We're a part of Telecommunications History
Innovation is defined as improvements, advances and originality and that's what Telcordia brings to the communications industry. Our Innovation team has achieved worldwide recognition for many communication milestones. This allows a deep perspective and expertise which we bring to our engagements.
- Our Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) over SONET Protocol was adopted as the international standard for broadband Integrated Services Network (ISDN), the leading transport technology for backbone networks.
- Our DARPA-sponsored MONET project led to the creation of the Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) industry.
- Telcordia Latent Semantic Indexing Software technology improves online searching performance of multilingual text documents by up to 30 percent.
- We are the creator of the world's most effective and comprehensive code coverage testing tools.
And, while Telcordia continues to be a wellspring of inventions and innovations that change the telecommunications industry as a whole, our main focus is on providing significant competitive advantages for our customers. Our accomplishments include:
- Our Mobile Networking Research group provided break-through innovation to Toshiba America Research Incorporated (TARI). Utilizing ten new patent submissions from its collaboration with Telcordia as a base, TARI is helping its Toshiba parent form the foundation for the next generation of wireless IP and mobility products.
- Our Applied Research and Software Systems used a new model and tool-based systems engineering approach for service management software for a major US ILEC, exploiting the new STRIDE tool-suite. This new approach exploited UML and XML technologies, enabled formal specification of both interface message definitions and their business rules, provided rapid response to changes in customer requirements and automatically generated documentation. The new approach achieved visible improvement in software quality and cost savings in Release 14.0 production support.
- Co-developed the most widely sold and most widely used UMTS digital event-driven simulation model in the world, enabling wireless companies worldwide to plan UMTS networks delivering voice and data services meeting known performance and build-out requirements while limiting capital investment
- Organized and completed the world's largest field demonstration of ground tactical mobile ad hoc networks with quality of service and dynamic auto configuration capabilities
- Completed record-setting field demonstrations of multi-input, multi-output (MIMO) array signal processing for high data rate wireless communications, achieving a ten-fold improvement in spectral efficiency over conventional commercial wireless systems
- Defined detailed transition paths from 2G to 3G for a wireless equipment manufacturer and mobile service provider in one of the first countries to deploy 3G wireless technologies
- Helped fixed and mobile wireless providers optimize network coverage with wireless planning software and dynamic reconfiguration software
- Designed and demonstrated an extensive software testbed for simulation of ad hoc mobile networks
