IP and Patents
Over the years, more than 1,800 patents have been issued to Telcordia in a wide range of categories. While our current focus is on voice and data communications technology, it's probable that you're using Telcordia Network Software, Network Hardware or Computer Sciences patented products. Some of the areas in which Telcordia holds patents and intellectual property include:
NetworkingATM, IP, Sonet, VLAN and Optical are only a few of the categories in which we hold Networking patents and intellectual property. In 2003, we were the first to demonstrate mobile and secure IP. In the same year, working with Fujitsu Network Communications, Inc., we provided the first available support of TMF 814. As a result, Service Providers will benefit from successful interoperability of Element and Network Management Systems.
MobilityToday, emergency workers and our armed forces are able to coordinate and act more effectively thanks to our recent efforts with wireless networks. We have also made advances in 2.5G/3G and Wi-Fi/WLAN.
Semiconductor Devices & OEIC'sOur work in the area of Displays supported the development of MPEG and other efficient digital video standards allowing audio-visual information to be compressed and transmitted over widely available digital communications lines. Our efforts can also be seen in the area's of Lasers, Batteries, and Software.
Call ProcessingOur efforts in Call Processing ensure that the 800 database can process calls without service interruptions.
Networking ServicesIn 1998, we supplied the Toll-Free Service Management System for all of North America.
SecurityOur security efforts have reduced security policy configuration time from months to minutes and demonstrated successful detection of hostile attacks. With our 2002 Quantum cryptography breakthrough demonstration we demonstrated a provable unbreakable code.
Database and Network ManagementWith our assistance, the Automotive Industry Action Group created an extranet service - the Automotive Network eXchange (ANX). In addition, if you can access all your communication devices including cell phone, fax, phone, and e-mail you've benefited from our input and participation in the ENUM World Project.
Telcordia has also been active in licensing its technologies, including creating a number of new companies in the areas of optical networking, wireless network management and network software tools.
Across these initiatives, Telcordia continues to leverage its intellectual property and patents to provide our customers and partners with the knowledge needed to make optimal use of mature and emerging technologies.
